Annual Coastal View and Moor News Community Awards returns to Freebrough

As always it was a pleasure to hold the Coastal View and Moor News Community Awards in our fantastic building! The Coastal View and Moor News publication is a free independent community newspaper delivered to homes and the local community in East Cleveland. Freebrough Academy work closely with them to produce the Freebrough Flyer, rounding up our latest news along with our primaries.

The Awards event held on Friday 30 September 2016 enabled local community members and businesses to be awarded for their efforts to the community. There were inspirational stories from young careers and it was a brilliant event seeing so many local businesses, community groups and people from across the area, joined together to celebrate all of their work.

The sponsor’s generosity along with donations on the night helped to raise money for The Junction Foundation, Young Carers. Throughout the night, our large atrium provided a spectacular atmosphere and backdrop, fit for an awards ceremony.

linda-awardCongratulations to Linda Halbert, CEO of the Teesside Learning Trust and former Principal of Freebrough Academy, for winning the Community Champion Award which was voted for by Coastal View readers. As the only award not selected by the producers of the Coastal View, it was sponsored by Guisborough Trophy and presented by Hilary and Jim Taylor.

We would also like to congratulate Liam Matthews- Keighley who won the Young People’s Enterprise Award. Introduced last year, the award is presented for enterprising spirit and skills.

We hope that we will be welcoming you all back for the 2017 Coastal View Awards!
