Fabric sourcing at local suppliers

Year 11 GCSE Textile students visited a local fabric supplier, Boyes in Guisborough, to source and buy fabrics to transform into creative masterpieces, for their controlled assessments.

With an array of materials, buttons and colours at their feet, the group of students looked at samples and bought the materials they required within a specific budget, suitable for their target markets and matching their final designs.

During their next lesson, the students will use the patterns they have made to create their final outcome.

This is just a small insight into the world of business and just a few of the considerations that small businesses who create handmade products have to think about.

The students were ‘sew’ happy with their purchases!
