Freebrough engineers triumphant in Rotary Club Technology Tournament

Freebrough Academy students were victorious, winning the KS4 category of the annual Rotary Club Technology Tournament which was held at the Whitby Pavilion on Thursday 3 March 2016. The team created a pipe clearing machine which was the only one to work within the designated time given, leading to the team beating other rivals from around the area.

Winning students were presented with Certificates of Achievement from Rotary and Pigs International of Texas by the Mayor of Whitby, Cllr. Heather Coughlan. Engineers of the KS4 Freebrough Academy team included: Kyle, Mackenzie, Ben and Ryan. The team really enjoyed themselves and were surprised that they won. Their machine is currently on display in a cabinet in the large atrium if you would like to see their engineering design. The tournament aims to give young people the opportunity to demonstrate their planning, designing, engineering and scientific knowledge.
