A number of students chosen from Year 7 are participating in an Active/Positive Citizen programme this half term. The programme is one lesson per week for a ten week period and is taking place here in the Academy.
We would like to welcome Year 11 Leavers to return to the Academy to collect their official GCSE Certificates on Thursday 3 December 2015. They can be collected between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm.
Takeover Challenge is a national event organised by the Children’s Commissioner. Takeover is a fun, hugely successful and exciting children and young people’s engagement project which sees organisations across England opening their doors to children and young people to take over adult roles.
During Core PE lessons a number of Year 11 students have had the opportunity to learn new skills outside of the school environment. For up to six weeks the students are attending coaching sessions at our local golf club, Hunley Hotel and Golf Club. Experiencing teeing off on the actual golf course and practising their golf swing on the driving range, is enabling students to learn a whole new sport. Coached by members of staff from the golf club, this has been funded by Sport Academy. The Year 11 students involved are loving it and think it is great to do something different, especially as it’s a sport they have never tried before!

We are holding a Christmas Fayre with the aim of raising money for Prom Committee and also Year 9 students who are aiming to raise money to put towards their overseas trip to help disadvantaged communities which will take part later in their academic life.
Students at Freebrough Academy have again marked the armistice with a series of assemblies within the school focussed on local and national remembrance. The focus of the British Legion Poppy appeal this year was how the money raised from the poppy appeal is used and students from the Year 9 History group presented an assembly to other students to explain this.
