A group of Year 7 students travelled to Disneyland Paris during February, to attend the Business Live! and ICT & Computing Live! conferences. Arranged through European Study Tours, they provide subject specific conferences for students that aim to give young people skills and knowledge about the industry so that they can apply it to their learning in school.
Nine Vex Robotics kits were available, with schools having to pitch in order to be successful in having one on loan to their school. In their pitch they had to answer how the school could benefit from the kit and how it would help the students develop their skills.
Redcar Boxing Academy held a boxing event at Friday @ Freebrough on Friday 26 February 2016 to raise awareness of the new boxing enrichment activity available to students. The boxing afterschool club will be run every Thursday from 2.45 pm to 3.45 pm for Freebrough Academy students.
For two weeks, commencing from Monday 14 March 2016, Freebrough Academy have been running their Easter Eggstravaganza. Each day, there has been an Easter egg draw with three lucky winners chosen, based on them attending school from the start of the Eggstravaganza.
Freebrough Academy students were victorious, winning the KS4 category of the annual Rotary Club Technology Tournament which was held at the Whitby Pavilion on Thursday 3 March 2016. The team created a pipe clearing machine which was the only one to work within the designated time given, leading to the team beating other rivals from around the area.
