On Wednesday 31 January and Thursday 1 February 2018, after completing a CV and covering letter, Year 10 students had the opportunity to take part in a mock interview with a range of employers from across the local area.
The annual Freebrough Academy Careers fair took place at the end of last month, where students were able to chat to employers, training providers, colleges and universities about their future career pathways.
On Thursday 1 February 2018, Freebrough hosted The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Ceremony for award winners from across the local area. Attended by the Mayor and nearly one thousand people, including participants and parents, a group of Freebrough Academy students collected their Bronze Award which they completed in July 2017.
Local art showcases
December 2017 was a very busy month for the art department. It began with students taking part in the Festival of Angels held at St Margaret’s Church in Brotton. A range of students designed and produced some large scale work depicting different scenes, these were showcased in the church alongside work from other schools and the community. A selection of our student’s work was also designed and created to be displayed in an exhibition at Redcar Heart, alongside work from other schools.
Five pupils from the Brotton-based high school; Eve, Katie, Toby, Neo and Joe, made the 318 mile round trip to the King Power Stadium after being selected to represent Middlesbrough after winning a local area round held at the Riverside before Christmas.
We are delighted to announce that our Time 4 You Psychological Services, Clinical Service Director, Sandra Bell received a ‘special invitation’ to Buckingham Palace in honour of World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October 2017.
Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry hosted a national celebration on mental health at Buckingham Palace for World Mental Health Day. A reception was also held to celebrate the work of those who had made a real difference in raising awareness of mental health.
