Freebrough hosts Coastal View and Moor News Community Awards

We were again honoured to be asked to host the Coastal View and Moor News Community Awards at Freebrough Academy. We have worked with Coastal View to produce the Freebrough Flyer which features in the publication once a term and have strong working relationships with them.

The event on 23 October 2015 celebrated Community Champions, awarding them with the recognition of their success and contribution to the local area. The Academy was a fitting backdrop for the awards, with the large atrium’s open space the focus of the night. It was a huge success, with over 100 people attending and more than £2200 raised for Young Carers.

Huge congratulations to Post 16@ Freebrough student, Adam Torka who won The Young People’s Enterprise Award for his dedication and motivation towards his studies and his general aspirational attitude. Adam who attended the evening thinking that he was just there to film the awards as part of his BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production course, had no idea that he had won. With his family in the audience, Adam put down his camera and collected the award. Adam is currently studying Level 3 in Creative Media and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and is hoping to continue his studies at Ravensbourne University next summer with the hope of a career in the Television industry.

We would also like to congratulate Kimberley Forteath, former Freebrough Academy staff member on receiving an award for her work on developing the Freebrough Flyer for the Academy. Kimberley was a very valuable member of the team helping to connect the Academy with the community, primary schools and other stakeholders.

We hope that we will be welcoming you all back for the 2016 Coastal View Awards!
