Freebrough to represent Middlesbrough Football Club in national enterprise challenge
On Monday 7 December 2015 four Year 10 students travelled to the MFC Riverside Stadium to compete in the first round of the Premier League Enterprise Challenge 2015-16. The challenge aims to engage students in a real life problem that football clubs face and this year the challenge is to create an innovative solution to bring fans to the stadium for longer and increase revenue.
Alex, Abbie, Katie and Megan have been working for 2 months on their ideas and plans, carrying out extensive market research and creating their solution to the challenge – Riverside Social – a range of activities that aim to create a more social atmosphere at the club.
On the day the girls had time to prepare for their presentation, working with Mrs Newton and MFC Foundation staff to rehearse and fine tune their ideas. They pitched to four judges including Adam Forshaw (1st team player) and Joanne Swinnerton (Head of Retail and Merchandise for MFC). The judges gave the girls amazing feedback on both their professionalism, presentation skills and their ideas which they commented were ‘exceptional’.
As a result the team have been chosen to represent Middlesbrough at the semi-final of the national competition in February 2016. They will now need to develop their ideas further, create their business and financial plan as well as fine tuning their pitch.
Good luck to the girls!
