Champions League Football Report
Last night, Chelsea marched their way through to the last 8 of the Champions League with a sensational come back conquering the Italian side Napoli.
Chelsea, who where trailing 3-1 from the first leg, needed a miracle to send them through to the last 8 of this very famous and prestigious event.
Drogba opened the scoring with a 29th-minute header from a cross by Brazilian ace Ramires. Chelsea struck again just after half time with yet another header from their leading captain John Terry from a corner by English midfielder Frank Lampard.
However, the blues faced a setback as Napoli struck back with a 55th-minute goal from Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler. This slightly knocked Chelsea’s morale but wasn’t enough to stop them from scoring from the spot with a 75th-minute penalty from Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
When the final whistle went, Chelsea were anything but defeated. They had shown a strong performance in battling for their space in the Quarter Finals of the Champions League. This proved itself, as in the 105th-minute, defender turned striker Branisav Ivanovic, finished an amazing strike winning the game for Chelsea.
Current Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, described his teams performance as “incredible”. At the full time whistle, he stormed the pitch celebrating with his fellow players who where just as pleased as him.
APOEL, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Marseille, AC Milan and Real Madrid will join Chelsea in the last eight of the Champions League.
