Freebrough Prosthetics Club
Here at Freebrough Academy there are a variety of after school clubs. However, the most imaginative and definitely the most gruesome would have to be the Prosthetics Club run by Drama teacher Mrs Beasley and ICT/Media technician Mr White. Today they told us what went on…
1) Why did you want to introduce Prosthetics to Freebrough?
“The Prosthetics Club was started to give the students an opportunity at something they otherwise would not have a chance to do. This club will bring out the arty side in a student and their imagination.”
2) What does this involve?
“The club involves the creation of wounds, scars, face casts and a variety of other makeup FX using the latest in film makeup FX.”
3) Are you aiming to do something big with the club soon?
“The students are presently involved in the creation of a film that tackles the issue of scars caused through being injured by burns. The next project film is a zombie film which is a very exciting opportunity for the Prosthetics Club to get their hands dirty and their imaginations run wild.”
4) What is your vision for Prosthetics in the future?
“Our aim is to have a custom made Prosthetics studio; a studio in which we can work, play and experiment in. We want to be recognised nationally and enter various film competitions from around the world.”
The prosthetics club has had recent recognition on the Hybrid FX website which is a professional makeup FX studio based in Leeds Choppy Finger
