GETTING IN A BUZZ ABOUT THE SPELLING BEE
Freebrough students Luke Dunning, Erika Stephenson and Eden Duncan have been participating in the Routes into Languages Foreign Language Spelling Bee since September 2014. They were part of a group initially selected because of their outstanding performance in their baseline tests for Modern Foreign Languages during their Year 7 early transition period.
The Foreign Language Spelling Bee is a national competition for students in Year 7 to practise and improve their vocabulary, spelling and memory skills in a foreign language. During the competitions students have one minute to translate and spell as many words as they can in the foreign language, which this year is Spanish.
The aforementioned students have made it through the class and also the school part of the competition and will now go on to represent Freebrough Academy at the Regional Finals at Newcastle University in April 2015.
