What is TEEP and how will it help us to support you to achieve?

TEEP is the Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme. It is a development programme for teachers, based on research and evidence from other schools, to help improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning across our Academy.

In October, the entire teaching staff, including the Principal, completed two days of training as an introduction to TEEP. A smaller group of teachers went on to complete a further two days of training in February 2013 so that they can then support the development of TEEP across the Academy. All teaching staff will undertake further training throughout 2013 and the full programme will take four years to complete.

Other schools have said it has made a tremendous difference to their community of learners and we hope that you will also have the same experience:

  • More engaging and motivational lessons which you enjoy.
  • Increased self – esteem and aspirations.
  • Greater progress both within individual lessons and over time.
  • A genuine and productive dialogue between all students, including asking and answering questions.
  • Ability to stay focused in lessons and learn from the moment you enter the room.
  • Greater confidence about your learning, being an active learner and having strategies for when you are stuck to help you move on.
  • Taking ownership of and responsibility for your own learning.

To support the success of TEEP we would encourage students to:

  • Engage in lessons
  • Arrive at each lesson ready to learn, both in your mind and with the right equipment.
  • Be prepared to take a risk, challenge yourself and accept that when we make mistakes we are doing some of our best learning.

Why are we doing this?

At Freebrough Academy we are striving to help every student to achieve success and improve their life chances. The same as all students, teachers want to continue to learn and improve and we believe this programme will help to support that.

“ Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” – Henry Ford
