About the Academy

Freebrough Academy was established in September 2010 and was graded as Good by Ofsted in 2015. No longer requiring a sponsor, Freebrough Academy was fundamental in establishing Teesside Learning Trust, a newly formed Multi Academy Trust which was established on 01 September 2016, comprising of two Primary Academies in Redcar and Cleveland, and two Secondary Academies, Thornaby Academy in Stockton and Freebrough Academy in Redcar and Cleveland, we are at an exciting point in our development as a Trust.

Led by a strong and effective Board of Trustees, Teesside Learning Trust is ambitious for all of our students and is keen to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the North East region. Students benefit from the resources and expertise across the four schools within the Trust and we are in a great position to develop a smooth and seamless transition between primary and secondary schools for our students.  Being part of a much bigger entity also brings opportunities for the development of staff and succession planning opportunities

Our aim is to be recognised as an outstanding provider of education and we are committed to appointing outstanding practitioners to join us on this exciting journey.

Teacher of Business

At Freebrough Academy we are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join our committed and motivated Business and Enterprise faculty to contribute to our journey to outstanding. Business and Enterprise is the Academy’s specialism, and it underpins our core value: daring greatly. The subject is offered as a core subject at both KS3 and KS4.

The successful candidate will:

  • be determined and motivated to maintain excellent progress in business subjects
  • be an energetic teacher who can ensure at least good progress for all learners
  • be prepared to work together to further develop an inspiring and engaging curriculum
  • be confident to teach key Stage 3 and 4
  • develop extra-curricular activities to develop a passion in business
  • have innovative ideas about the whole school enterprise offer

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in teaching their subject area at key stage 4 and key stage 3 is preferable. The candidate must be passionate about teaching and learning and be able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will have the skills and determination to make a difference to the lives of our students.

A retention incentive is available for the successful candidate. This is a £1,000 payment at the end of the first and second years of employment with the Academy. A relocation package of up to £1,000 is also available.

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of our pre-employment checks.

Salary: Teachers Main Scale or UPS, plus £1000 retention payment after 12 months and 24 months

Start Date: September 2017

Contract Type: Full Time

Teacher of Science and Student Progress Leader (TLR2c)

At Freebrough Academy we are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join our committed and motivated Science team to contribute to our journey to outstanding. This is a middle leadership post within the Academy’s structure as the post holder will also take on the Student Progress Leader be accountable for the academic progress of students from KS2-KS4 and accountable to the Assistant Principal leading the ‘small school’.

Director of Learning – Modern Foreign Languages and Business & Enterprise

At Freebrough Academy we are looking to appoint an outstanding middle leader to join our modern foreign languages and business and enterprise faculty.

The successful candidate will lead the combined languages and business faculty. As a languages specialist they will teach both KS4 and KS3 languages, preferably Spanish and French. They will be responsible for driving the progress of students and teaching and learning in both subject areas, but will be supported by an assistant director of learning who will have responsibility for the business curriculum. 

This is an exciting time in the development of languages at Freebrough. We have established a strong take up at KS4 with both Spanish and French options groups across the 3 year KS4 (9-11). We wish to further expand our Ebacc offer by encouraging more students to opt for languages by further developing an inspiring and engaging curriculum at KS3. The successful candidate will drive the curriculum developments at all stages, taking into account changes to the KS4 framework.

Business and Enterprise is the Academy specialism and since 2011 we have developed a core business programme, meaning all students in the Academy study this subject at both KS3 and KS4. The assistant director of learning will have responsibility for the planning and delivery of the business curriculum and will support the director of learning in driving progress and teaching and learning in this subject area.

A retention incentive is available for the successful candidate. This is a £1,000 payment at the end of the first and second years of employment with the Academy. A relocation package of up to £1,000 is also available.

Full time Key Stage 1 class teacher required for September 2017. Teesside Learning Trust wishes to appoint a classroom teacher for our forward-looking primary school.
