Raising Achievement Evening

The next raising achievement evening is for Year 10 on Wednesday 13 January 2016 at 4.00pm – 7.00 pm. Parents/carers must make the 10 minute appointments with teachers using the electronic system, ParentMail.

What is a raising achievement evening?

We have changed the way we approach parents evening as we have learnt from the success of previous events held in the Academy and taken on board feedback from parents.  They will now include:

  • A short presentation on changes in education, revision techniques, and tips to support your child through their examinations
  • Appointments with subject teachers for a ten minute one to one meeting to discuss strengths, progress to date and next steps required for each child
  • The opportunity to collect and take away revision materials for each subject area
  • Advice on home learning to enable independent learning skills to be developed, leading to greater academic success

We held a similar event for our year 11 students in September 2015, which was received by parents and students positively.  The event had the best parental attendance to date.  Both parents and students commented how helpful the evening was and how it supported progression in all subjects.

Comments from parents included:

“It really helped me to understand how my child should revise.”

“I now understand how much time, each night my child should spend on revision and homework.”

“The resources provided are very helpful; I will be able to revise with my child.”
